Thursday was a long class day. I had my SPN350 (Introduction to Reading Spanish Literature) in the morning, and SPN342 (Media and Conversation) in the afternoon. Since my apartment is so conveniently located down the street from the university, I am able to come home and eat lunch with my madre. I explored the city in the evening, but overall, it was a pretty relaxed day.
We typically don't have classes on Fridays, but because we missed Monday and Tuesday this week due to traveling, we had to attend our Monday classes. After class, my housemate and I set off to explore the newer part of Valencia. Marta (the daughter who lives with us) showed us a much more direct route into the downtown area than we've been taking, and it turns out it is only about a 25 minute walk! There are endless roads with all kinds of stores. I knew we were in the more upscale part of Valencia when I picked up a gorgeous pair of shorts that I am still thinking about and the price tag said 300 euros (about $400… Sigh). However, there is still a LOT more to see there, and I plan to go back and do some (less expensive) shopping soon.
I know I've said it a million times, but the city is so beautiful. The main part of the newer downtown area is La Plaza Del Ayuntamiento. There are palm trees everywhere, a big fountain, the city hall building, and a post office that you would think is a castle. My favorite part is all of the kiosks selling fresh flowers. They smell so good!!
¡Hasta luego!
